Weight Loss Motivation

We all need daily weight loss motivation if we want to lose weight and be able to maintain our ideal body weight for the rest of our lives. Sustained motivation makes all the difference between dieting success and dieting failure.

But motivation doesn't last...

It would be great if motivation lasted... but unfortunately it doesn't. For this reason I created these website pages from my book, Great Minds Think Thin: Eclectic Weight Loss Motivation to help you get motivated, and stay motivated... so that you can achieve your weight loss goals.

Losing weight is really, really simple...

Losing weight is really, really simple when you think about it. All you have to do is eat less of the bad stuff, eat more of the good stuff, and move your body a whole lot more. Continue doing this and, sooner or later, you'll reach your weight loss goal. Easy!

And yet, if it were that simple, anyone who had ever started a diet with the intention of losing weight would have been able to follow their plan and would now be at their ideal body weight.

So why doesn't this work for most of us?

And why, if it were so easy, is there still a billion dollar diet industry that continues to grow? The missing key, the big thing that diet gurus, weight loss products and programs fail to give us is the essential daily motivation that is vital for fitness and weight loss success.

What is weight loss motivation anyway,
and why is it so important?

Weight loss motivation is that amazing feeling we have when we see a commercial or an infomercial on TV for a new diet, a miracle weight loss product, or a fitness machine or workout program.

As we watch and listen we feel all fired up and energized.  We find ourselves wanting, and willing, to do whatever it takes to lose weight, including using our credit card to make that purchase that appears to be the long-awaited answer to our weight loss dreams.

As we experience that energy, we think we can, feel we can, and truly believe we can and will realize our weight loss and fitness goals.

Can money really buy motivation?

If we are financially able to act on that feeling, we typically do. We buy the product, we sign up for the gym membership, we declare to our loved ones and the entire world that we are doing it, and off we go. We're unstoppable!

And we go, and we go... but only as long as that feeling lasts. As long as we feel motivated, we have unlimited willpower and drive. And yet we all know that motivation doesn't last.

Zig Ziglar, one of today's most sought-after motivational speakers and authors, says it best; "People often tell me that motivation doesn't last, and I tell them that bathing doesn't either. That's why I recommend it daily."

In Great Minds Think Thin: Eclectic Weight Loss Motivation, I take this oh-so-true quote and transform it into a weight loss motivational quote. "Weight loss motivation, like brushing your teeth, doesn't last. That's why I recommend it twice daily."

My Best Recommendation

I recommend reading one or more of the weight loss questions, famous quotes as answers, eclectic weight loss quotes and positive affirmation or think thin sayings from this book and this website twice a day.

The key to your success is to make this a twice-daily habit.

The easiest and most effective way to make doing this motivational exercise a natural habit is to combine it with another habit that you are already comfortable with and that you do unquestioningly and automatically; brushing your teeth.

Two minute twice a day...

If you decide, and commit, to spending two minutes every morning motivating yourself and getting focused on your diet and fitness goals for the day, you will become totally goal-driven and you will be motivated to achieve permanent weight loss success.

By the same token, if you devote two minutes of your time, last thing at night, to reviewing and celebrating your successes of the day, setting goals for the following day as you anticipate yet another successful twenty-four hours, you can, and will, discover your source of seemingly unlimited and infinite willpower.

You will not only begin to get yourself motivated, but most importantly of all, you'll learn how to keep yourself motivated.
