And yet, if it were that simple, anyone who had ever started a diet with the intention of losing weight would have been able to follow their plan and would now be at their ideal body weight.
And why, if it were so easy, is there still a billion dollar diet industry that continues to grow? The missing key, the big thing that diet gurus, weight loss products and programs fail to give us is the essential daily motivation that is vital for fitness and weight loss success.
Weight loss motivation is that amazing feeling we have when we see a commercial or an infomercial on TV for a new diet, a miracle weight loss product, or a fitness machine or workout program.
As we watch and listen we feel all fired up and energized. We find ourselves wanting, and willing, to do whatever it takes to lose weight, including using our credit card to make that purchase that appears to be the long-awaited answer to our weight loss dreams.
As we experience that energy, we think we can, feel we can, and truly believe we can and will realize our weight loss and fitness goals.
If we are financially able to act on that feeling, we typically do. We buy the product, we sign up for the gym membership, we declare to our loved ones and the entire world that we are doing it, and off we go. We're unstoppable!
And we go, and we go... but only as long as that feeling lasts. As long as we feel motivated, we have unlimited willpower and drive. And yet we all know that motivation doesn't last.
